Don't you think she needs to give other magazines a chance? Does she have to kick everyone's ass every week. Can't she take a week off? Geeeesh.

mention all the photographers she has "discovered" Taryn Simon, Katy Grannan, Gregory Crewsdon.

Hmmm... the only reason the Times keeps winning awards is because she's on the judging panel of everything. Can you say conflict of interest?
It reminds me of Kurt Loder from MTV a few years back. He was interviewed for a magazine article and what I garnered was the dude has an incredible expense budget and drinks very expensive wine. Must be tough for Kathy to have all those resources and be able to choose whomever she desires. Can't beat em join huh? Try shooting just verticals, on a simple background, don't forget distorted, wide angle, BIG head sizes and leave plenty of room on the top for copy. Throw in some placid, insipid, gestures or a non confrontational quirky, stuffed human kinda thang. Pick a Barney, Tina, Matthew works for me.
Funny. As much as I try to remain synical I sense a bit of admiration. I might start shooting big heads...
She just happens to work hard and have access to very good photography. I almost got in once but that very week they were running the same story. Close but no cigar. And my work has been Gay and Lesbian,gender(wigstock)AIDS and the Political Funeral held at the white house. All displayed publicly:schools,galleries,churches,corporations etc. I wont give up. Oh, the back of my head was in a photo in the NYT paper. But I will be contacting Kathy again in the future. Just never give up Gail
